Nigel MacLean - Executive Producer, Composer, Violinist

As an established multi-genre violinist, Nigel MacLean has won international and national recognition for his innovative approach to music. He has played a variety of roles including Orchestral Leader for film, Solo Artist, Assistant Producer, Producer, Director (FilmHarmonix) and Composer. As a solo artist his performance and recording credits include Black Arm Band, Ilbijerri Theatre, Joe Chindamo, Paul Kelly, Kate Ceberano, Renee Geyer, John Denver, David Hirschfelder, David Hobson, Dan Hicks and Joe Camilleri. During his role as Notation Editor and Orchestral Leader for Oscar nominee David Hirschfelder, Nigel worked on soundtracks for films Elizabeth, Sliding Doors, Better Than Sex and What Becomes Of The Broken Hearted. Moreover, Nigel has contributed to improvisations on soundtracks for Underbelly, Angel Baby, Rage in Placid Lake, After the Deluge, One Perfect Day, CrashBurn, Crackers, The Interview and more. Nigel orchestrated and conducted the music for Geoffrey Wright’s production of Macbeth (2006), and composed music for a short film Forged by David No, which won Gold Medal for Best Music in a Short Film at the Park City Film Music Festival (Utah, USA) In 2008. Nigel composed music for Ilbijerri Theatre's production of Jack Charles vs The Crown which premiered at the Melbourne International Arts Festival 2010 and since performed seasons throughout Australia and in London, Ireland, Canada, New York, Japan and New Zealand to rave reviews. In 2013 the production won a Helpmann Award and Drovers Award for Best Regional Touring Production. Nigel has twice won the Australian National Bluegrass Championships and has been awarded three Golden Fiddle Awards.
