Nigel MacLean was awarded a scholarship to study jazz at the Berklee College of Music in Boston in 1990 and is now an alumni advisor to that faculty. He has worked in a variety of roles including Personal Assistant, Orchestral Director,Solo Artist, Assistant Producer and Notation Editor for David Hirscfelder on films such as Elizabeth and Sliding Doors, Better Than Sex, What Becomes Of The Broken Hearted.

Using this experience he has gone on to produce award winning albums for Blue Drag "Relaxin At The Camarillo" and Don Harpers' "Illawarra Suite" and is in demand from fellow composers to orchestrate for films or commercials including Geoffrey Wrights' latest production "Macbeth".

His performance and recording credits include Paul Kelly, Renee Geyer, Kate Ceberano, John Denver, Vika and Linda Bull and he currently teaches improvisation for strings at the Victorian College of the Arts and runs an Apple Music Learning Pod in Castlemaine,Victoria.
