FilmHarmonix is pleased to announce a two show appearance at this year's Adelaide Cabaret Festival for a musical presentation of songs from 'Jack Charles v The Crown', as presented by ILBIJERRI Theatre Company. FilmHarmonix director Nigel MacLean and producer Phil Collings will join consumate performer Jack Charles on stage again for their fifth appearance together, creating an evening songs from Jack’s 1940s childhood including a blues version of Oodgeroo Noonuccal’s poem Son of Mine. This year's cabaret festival is fronted by Artistic Director Kate Ceberano: 'This year artists from around the world have been invited to Adelaide to disturb us, provoke us, be wild and fabulous. As a result we have gathered a diverse bunch of charismatic raconteurs, entrancing musicians and Broadway chanteuses. Preview of Don Harper's 'Illawarra Suite'The legacy of Don Harper lives on colourfully through this chamber jazz suite Illawarra Suite, a classical jazz composition from the late Australian composer known best for his music in Doctor Who and fronting one of Australia's most popular big bands. FilmHarmonix founder Nigel MacLean met Harper in 1985 when he was a teenager and Don was in his 60s. From their meeting a musical chemistry flourished and in request by Don shortly before his death Nigel completed and recorded what would be Don Harper's last work, Illawarra Suite. Fresh from the Perth Festival touring circuit in Western Australia for ILBIJERRI's landmark theatrical production Jack Charles v The Crown is news of the official release of music from the show, now available to purchase online; JCVTC - Music from the Stage Production. Since the 2011 sell out Belvoir theatre season of the Jack Charles show, FilmHarmonix directors Nigel MacLean and Phil Collings have been busily recording and mastering an extended soundtrack from the show to capture the essence of Jack's heartwarming story as well as recording some bonus tracks so fans can hear Jack in his musical element. The 15-track bluesy romp features all the show favourites - including leading score The Wheel - as well as bonus track classics Deep River Blues (Doc Watson) and Sweetheart Tree.
